Ingredients

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the vegan butter until completely melted but not browned.
  • Add the rice flour and corn starch, whisking vigorously until a paste forms, cooking for about 1-2 minutes.
  • Slowly pour in the dairy-free milk while whisking to avoid lumps. Continue whisking until smooth and thickened.
  • Add nutmeg, salt, and pepper, adjusting seasoning as necessary. Whisk until combined.
  • Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until thickened to desired consistency, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Serve immediately or store in an airtight container once cooled.
