Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chocolate chunks
  • 3/4 cup chocolate baking wafers or big chocolate chunks for pressing on top of cookies
  • sea salt flakes for sprinkling on cookies

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure even baking and perfect chewy texture.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, sea salt, and cocoa powder. Set aside.
  • In another bowl, use an electric mixer to cream together the room-temperature butter, granulated sugar, and light brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the eggs one at a time to the butter and sugar mixture, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract until combined.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  • Using a spatula, gently fold in the chocolate chips and chocolate chunks evenly throughout the dough.

Shaping and Baking

  • Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop generous amounts of dough onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper or silicone mats, spacing about 2 inches apart.
  • Press a few chocolate baking wafers or large chocolate chunks into the tops of each cookie for an extra chocolatey kick.
  • Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt flakes on top of each cookie just before baking to enhance flavor.
  • Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until edges are set but centers remain slightly soft.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack to maintain chewy texture.
