Ingredients

  • 5 tablespoons salted butter divided
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder make sure it’s not clumpy
  • 6 slices pull-apart bar-b-q bread
  • 4 slices Texas Toast (see Notes below)

Instructions

Texas Toast, Made Easy

  • Start by preheating your oven to 425°F (220°C). This high temperature is key to achieving that perfect crispy crust.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine 5 tablespoons of softened salted butter with 1 teaspoon of garlic powder. Stir until well blended and creamy. Ensure that the garlic powder is not clumpy; a smooth mixture will spread more easily on your bread.
  • If you’re using pull-apart bar-b-q bread, slice it into thick pieces, about 1 inch each. If you’re using Texas Toast, ensure the slices are thick and ready to absorb the buttery goodness.
  • Generously spread the garlic butter mixture on one side of each slice of bread. Make sure to cover the entire surface for maximum flavor.
  • Place the bread slices butter-side up on a baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and crispy.
  • Once out of the oven, let the Texas Toast cool for a minute before serving. Pair it with your favorite BBQ dish, or simply enjoy it on its own!

Notes

  • Use high-quality salted butter for a richer, more flavorful Texas Toast.
  • Check garlic powder for clumps before mixing to ensure smooth spreading.
  • You can freeze prepared Texas Toast slices before baking; bake directly from frozen adding a few extra minutes.
