Ingredients

  • 8 oz fresh strawberries hulled and washed
  • 6 cups water divided
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice about 4-6 lemons

Instructions

  • Hull and wash the fresh strawberries. Place them in a blender along with 1 cup of water and blend until smooth to create a strawberry puree.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water with the granulated sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves completely. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  • Juice the lemons until you have 1 cup of fresh lemon juice. Strain the juice to remove any seeds or pulp.
  • In a large pitcher, mix the strawberry puree, lemon juice, and the cooled simple syrup. Add the remaining 4 cups of cold water and stir well. Adjust sweetness or tartness if desired.
  • Place the strawberry lemonade in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving. Serve over ice and garnish with fresh strawberry slices or lemon wedges.

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Medium Saucepan
  • Large Pitcher

Notes

Use ripe strawberries for best flavor. Strain the strawberry puree for a smoother texture if preferred. Adjust sweetness to taste. Add fresh mint or substitute some water with sparkling water for variations. Store leftovers in the refrigerator up to 3 days, stirring before serving.
