Ingredients

  • 16 ounces skinless and boneless salmon fillets
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup pure honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the low-sodium soy sauce, pure honey, ground ginger, garlic powder, and crushed red pepper to create the glaze.
  • Pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel and season evenly with kosher salt and ground black pepper on both sides.
  • Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish and pour the ginger-soy glaze over them. Marinate for at least 15-20 minutes.
  • Fill a pot with water, ensuring the water level is below the steamer basket. Bring the water to a boil. Line the steamer basket with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  • Place the marinated salmon fillets in the steamer basket, cover with a lid, and steam for about 10-12 minutes or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork.
  • Remove the salmon from the steamer and drizzle any remaining glaze over the top. Serve on a platter, optionally garnished with fresh herbs or green onions.

Equipment

  • Steamer basket
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Spatula
  • Measuring Cups and Spoons
  • Serving Platter

Notes

  • Use maple syrup instead of honey for a vegan-friendly glaze.
  • Try tamari instead of soy sauce for a gluten-free alternative.
  • Fresh ginger can be substituted for ground ginger for a more vibrant flavor.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat gently by steaming again or microwaving on low power with a damp paper towel.
