Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground chicken lean and packed with protein
  • 1 large onion finely diced
  • 1 teaspoon salt enhances the overall taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder brings a lovely aromatic flavor
  • 1 teaspoon paprika adds a subtle smokiness and vibrant color
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder intensifies the onion flavor
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper provides a bit of heat
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme introduces an earthy, herbal note

Instructions

  • Start by finely dicing the large onion. Make sure to have all your spices measured out and ready to go. This will streamline the cooking process.
  • In a large skillet, heat a drizzle of oil over medium heat. Allow it to warm up for a minute or two.
  • Add the finely diced onion to the skillet and sauté until it becomes translucent, about 4-5 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent burning.
  • Once the onion is soft, add the 2 pounds of ground chicken to the skillet. Use your wooden spoon to break up the meat as it cooks.
  • Sprinkle the salt, garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, ground black pepper, and dried thyme over the chicken. Mix well to ensure the spices are evenly distributed.
  • Continue cooking the chicken for about 8-10 minutes, stirring frequently until the meat is no longer pink and fully cooked. Make sure to reach an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
  • Taste your seasoned ground chicken and adjust the seasoning if needed. You might want to add a little extra salt or spices according to your preference.
  • Remove from heat and serve your seasoned ground chicken in tacos, on salads, or in any dish you desire. Enjoy the rich flavors and versatility!

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
  • Substitute ground chicken with ground turkey or lean ground beef if needed.
  • Fresh herbs can be used instead of dried thyme; use about three times the amount of fresh herbs.
