Ingredients

  • 1 pound sausage spicy Italian sausage (or mild or halal-certified alternative)
  • 8 ounce cream cheese softened to room temperature
  • 10 ounce Rotel diced tomatoes and green chilies, drained slightly

Instructions

  • Start by heating a skillet over medium heat. Add the sausage and cook until browned and cooked through, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. This should take about 7-10 minutes. Make sure to drain any excess grease to keep the dip from becoming too oily.
  • While the sausage is cooking, allow your cream cheese to come to room temperature. This makes it much easier to mix later and ensures a smoother dip.
  • Once the sausage is cooked and drained, reduce the heat to low. Add the softened cream cheese to the skillet and stir until melted and fully combined with the sausage. Then, fold in the Rotel tomatoes and green chilies. Stir everything together until the dip is hot and bubbly.
  • Transfer the dip to a serving bowl or keep it warm in the skillet. Serve immediately with your favorite chips, crackers, or fresh-cut veggies for dipping.

Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Spoon

Notes

For best results, let the cream cheese soften completely before adding it to the hot sausage. Drain the sausage fat carefully to avoid a greasy dip, but leave a little for flavor. You can customize this recipe by adding shredded cheese, extra spices, or using plant-based sausage for a vegetarian option. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat gently.
