Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Sea salt for topping

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line your 9x13-inch baking pan with parchment paper or grease it lightly with butter.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
  • In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer or hand whisk to cream the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3 to 4 minutes.
  • Beat in the eggs, one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next. Then, stir in the vanilla extract and maple syrup until combined.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, folding gently with a spatula until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  • Pour the batter into your prepared pan and spread it evenly with the spatula. Smooth the top gently.
  • Sprinkle a generous pinch of sea salt evenly over the top of the batter.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until edges are golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs. Remove and place on a cooling rack to cool completely before slicing.

Equipment

  • 9x13 inch baking pan
  • Mixing Bowls
  • Electric mixer or hand whisk
  • Measuring Cups and Spoons
  • Rubber spatula
  • Cooling Rack

Notes

  • Use pure, high-quality maple syrup for the best flavor; avoid artificial syrups.
  • Do not overbake to keep bars soft and slightly chewy in the center.
  • Sea salt flakes add a lovely textural contrast and enhance sweetness.
  • Customize by adding chopped nuts or chocolate chips for extra texture and flavor.
  • Store bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
