Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons Old Bay seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper optional
  • 1 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter melted (for brushing on top)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder for topping
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt for topping
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) for a golden crust.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure even baking.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, granulated sugar, salt, Old Bay seasoning, garlic powder, dried parsley, and optional cayenne pepper until well combined.
  • Add the buttermilk and 6 tablespoons melted butter to the dry ingredients. Stir gently with a rubber spatula until just combined, leaving some lumps.
  • Fold in the shredded sharp Cheddar cheese evenly throughout the dough.
  • Using a large spoon or cookie scoop, drop generous amounts of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.
  • While baking, mix 3 tablespoons melted butter with 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Once biscuits are done, brush this mixture generously over the tops.
  • Sprinkle 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh parsley over the biscuits as a garnish. Serve warm and enjoy!
