Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise Use a good quality mayonnaise for a creamy base.
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha or hot sauce Adjust according to your preferred spice level.
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice Adds brightness and balances the creaminess.
  • 1/2 teaspoon granulated sugar Enhances the flavors and adds a subtle sweetness.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt To season and bring out the taste.
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper For a touch of mild heat and depth.
  • 5 oz imitation crab sticks Shredded into thin strips. Choose a brand that uses halal ingredients or a halal-certified seafood alternative if desired.

Instructions

  • Begin by carefully shredding the imitation crab sticks into thin, bite-sized strips using your fingers or two forks. Place the shredded crab into a medium-sized mixing bowl.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sriracha, lemon juice, granulated sugar, salt, and ground black pepper until smooth and well combined. Taste and adjust the spiciness or seasoning according to your preference.
  • Pour the prepared spicy dressing over the shredded crab sticks. Gently toss everything together using a spatula or spoon until the crab is evenly coated with the dressing, being careful not to break apart the delicate crab strips.
  • Cover the salad and refrigerate it for at least 10 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld together beautifully. Serve chilled as a side dish, appetizer, or topping for sushi bowls.

Notes

Use good-quality mayonnaise for a creamier flavor. Adjust sriracha to taste. For added crunch, sprinkle toasted sesame seeds or thinly sliced cucumbers. Substitute half of the mayonnaise with Greek yogurt for a lighter option. Store leftovers in an airtight container and consume within 1-2 days for best freshness.
