Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups self-rising flour
  • ½ cup maple syrup
  • ¼ cup coconut oil melted
  • 1 cup milk unsweetened almond milk recommended
  • ½ cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure even baking and fluffy donuts.
  • Lightly grease your donut pan with coconut oil or non-stick spray to prevent sticking.
  • In a large mixing bowl, sift together the self-rising flour and set aside to aerate.
  • In another bowl, whisk together melted coconut oil, maple syrup, and almond milk until well combined.
  • Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined, leaving a few lumps.
  • Using a pastry bag or spoon, fill each cavity of the donut pan about two-thirds full to allow space for rising.
  • Bake the donuts in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes until lightly golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • Remove the donuts from the oven and let them cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack. Once cooled, dust generously with powdered sugar.

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowls
  • Whisk
  • Donut Pan
  • Cooling Rack

Notes

  • These donuts are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for a couple of days.
  • Try adding cinnamon or nutmeg to the batter for a spiced variation.
  • Use a muffin tin if you don’t have a donut pan, filling cups halfway and adjusting baking time.
  • For a dairy-free option, use plant-based milk as suggested.
  • Reheat leftovers in the microwave for a few seconds to refresh their softness.
