Ingredients

  • 15 ounces Whole Milk Ricotta strained
  • 1 cup Mascarpone Cheese
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 teaspoon Orange Zest freshly grated
  • 1/2 cup Mini Chocolate Chips
  • 1/4 cup Chopped Pistachios optional

Instructions

  • Start by straining the ricotta cheese in a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth for about 30 minutes to remove excess moisture.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the strained ricotta and mascarpone cheese. Use an electric mixer on medium speed to blend until smooth.
  • Add the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and orange zest to the cheese mixture. Continue to mix until everything is well incorporated and creamy.
  • Using a spatula, gently fold in the mini chocolate chips, taking care not to overmix to keep the dip light and fluffy.
  • Cover the mixing bowl with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  • When ready to serve, transfer the cannoli dip to a serving dish and, if desired, sprinkle with chopped pistachios. Serve with your favorite dippers.

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Electric Mixer
  • Spatula
  • Serving Dish
  • Measuring Cups and Spoons

Notes

  • Straining the ricotta is essential to avoid a watery dip.
  • Do not overmix when folding in chocolate chips to maintain a light texture.
  • Chill the dip for at least 30 minutes for best flavor development.
  • For a lighter version, use part-skim ricotta instead of whole milk ricotta.
  • Serve with a variety of dippers like fruit, cookies, or gluten-free options for versatility.
