Ingredients

Brownie Base

  • 1 package brownie mix 18-oz
  • additional ingredients to prepare cake-like brownies typically water, eggs, and oil as per package instructions

Topping

  • 1 jar marshmallow crème 7-oz
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 package semi-sweet chocolate chips 12-oz
  • 4 cups Rice Krispie cereal

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures that your brownies bake evenly and to the perfect fudgy consistency.
  • In a large mixing bowl, prepare the brownie mix according to the package instructions. This usually involves adding water, eggs, and oil. Mix until just combined; be careful not to overmix.
  • Pour the brownie batter into a greased 9x13 inch baking pan. Spread it evenly and bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Once baked, remove the brownies from the oven and allow them to cool in the pan on a wire rack for about 10-15 minutes.

Topping Preparation

  • In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the creamy peanut butter and the marshmallow crème. Microwave for about 30 seconds, then stir until smooth and well combined.
  • Gently fold in the Rice Krispie cereal into the peanut butter and marshmallow mixture until evenly coated.
  • Once the brownies have cooled slightly, spread the peanut butter Krispie mixture evenly over the top of the brownies.
  • In a clean microwave-safe bowl, melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth.
  • Drizzle the melted chocolate over the peanut butter Krispie topping. You can use a spatula or a spoon to create a beautiful pattern if desired.
  • Allow the brownies to set at room temperature for about 30 minutes. For cleaner cuts, you can refrigerate them for an hour before slicing. Cut into squares and serve!

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowls
  • 9x13 inch baking pan

Notes

  • For a nut-free option, substitute peanut butter with sunflower seed butter.
  • Add chopped nuts, such as walnuts or pecans, for extra crunch.
  • Use dark chocolate chips for a richer flavor or mix in butterscotch chips for a twist.
  • Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to a week or freeze for up to three months.
  • To make your own marshmallow crème, melt mini marshmallows with corn syrup in the microwave.
