Ingredients

  • 8 ounces whole wheat pasta choose your favorite shape like penne, fusilli, or rotini
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for sautéing the turkey and garlic
  • 1 pound ground turkey lean protein base
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth use low-sodium for better control over saltiness
  • 1 lemon zest and juice
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill signature herb
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste
  • grated Parmesan cheese optional, for serving

Instructions

  • Heat the olive oil in your large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground turkey and cook, breaking it apart with your spoon, until it’s no longer pink — about 5-7 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant, making sure not to burn it.
  • Pour in the chicken broth, lemon zest, and lemon juice. Sprinkle in the dried dill and give everything a good stir to infuse the turkey with fresh, zesty flavor.
  • Add the whole wheat pasta to the pot, making sure it’s submerged in the liquid. Increase the heat to bring everything to a gentle boil. Once boiling, reduce to a simmer and cover with the lid. Let the pasta cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  • After about 8 minutes of simmering, stir in the frozen peas. They’ll cook quickly in the hot liquid, turning tender and vibrant green. Continue to simmer until the pasta is al dente and most of the liquid has absorbed — about 2 more minutes.
  • Taste the pasta and season with salt and black pepper as needed. If you like, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the top for a savory finishing touch. Serve hot and enjoy your wholesome, zesty meal!

Equipment

  • Large deep skillet or sauté pan with lid
  • Wooden spoon or silicone spatula
  • Microplane or fine grater
  • Citrus juicer (optional)
  • Measuring Cups and Spoons

Notes

  • Keep an eye on the pasta to avoid overcooking and stirring occasionally to prevent sticking or mushiness.
  • Add garlic after the turkey starts to brown to avoid burning and bitterness.
  • Don’t skip the lemon zest; it brightens the dish with essential aromatic oils.
  • Adjust salt and pepper seasoning as you cook to balance flavors perfectly.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge up to 3 days; reheat gently with a splash of water or broth.
