Ingredients

For the Pancakes:

  • 1.5 cups self-raising flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.33 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter melted and cooled slightly
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1.25 cups milk
  • 0.25 cup Nutella or chocolate hazelnut spread
  • 4 tablespoons sugar for coating
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon for coating

Instructions

Instructions:

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the self-raising flour, baking powder, sugar, ground cinnamon, and salt. Mix well until all the dry ingredients are evenly distributed.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, egg, vanilla extract, and milk until fully combined.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are perfectly fine!
  • Preheat your non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Once it’s hot, reduce the heat to medium-low to avoid burning the pancakes.
  • Using a ladle or measuring cup, pour about ¼ cup of batter onto the skillet. Allow it to cook for about 2-3 minutes or until bubbles form on the surface.
  • Before flipping the pancake, place a teaspoon of Nutella in the center of the pancake. Pour a little more batter over the Nutella to cover it.
  • Carefully flip the pancake and cook for another 2-3 minutes on the other side until golden brown.
  • In a small bowl, mix the sugar and ground cinnamon for the coating.
  • Once cooked, immediately toss the pancakes in the cinnamon sugar mixture, ensuring an even coating.
