Ingredients

  • 1 pound Brussels sprouts halved
  • 6 slices turkey bacon chopped
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts optional
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • Rinse Brussels sprouts and slice them in half lengthwise. Pat dry. Chop turkey bacon into bite-sized pieces.
  • Heat skillet over medium heat and add chopped turkey bacon. Cook, stirring occasionally, until crispy and browned, about 5 to 7 minutes. Remove bacon with slotted spoon, leaving fat in pan.
  • Add olive oil to skillet with bacon fat. Place Brussels sprouts cut side down and cook undisturbed for 4 to 5 minutes until golden brown. Stir occasionally and cook another 5 minutes until tender but firm.
  • Sprinkle salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder over Brussels sprouts. Drizzle maple syrup evenly and stir gently to coat. Let syrup caramelize slightly.
  • Return crispy turkey bacon to skillet and toss to combine. Add chopped walnuts if desired and stir in. Cook 1 to 2 minutes to meld flavors.
  • Remove skillet from heat. Garnish with fresh parsley. Serve immediately as a main dish or side.

Equipment

  • Large skillet or cast-iron pan
  • Sharp Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Spatula or Wooden Spoon
  • Measuring Spoons

Notes

  • Store leftovers in airtight container in refrigerator for up to 3 days; reheat gently in a skillet to keep crispiness.
  • Maple syrup can burn if cooked on high heat; add toward the end over medium heat.
  • Walnuts are optional and can be swapped with pecans or almonds for texture variation.
