Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup miso paste white
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil toasted
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger grated
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground
  • 4 salmon fillets about 6 ounces each, skin-on or skinless
  • green onions 2, thinly sliced for garnish
  • sesame seeds toasted for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Glaze

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup miso paste, 1/4 cup pure maple syrup, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon sesame oil, 1 tablespoon rice vinegar, 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger, 1 minced garlic clove, and 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper until smooth and well combined.

Preheat Oven and Prepare Salmon

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease an oven-safe pan to prevent sticking.
  • Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels to ensure the glaze sticks well. Place the fillets skin-side down on the prepared baking sheet.

Glaze and Bake

  • Using a spoon or pastry brush, generously coat the top of each salmon fillet with the maple miso glaze, spreading evenly.
  • Bake the salmon in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork and the glaze is bubbling and caramelized.
  • Optionally, broil the salmon for the last 1-2 minutes to add color and crispiness, watching closely to prevent burning.

Serve

  • Remove the salmon from the oven and let it rest for a couple of minutes. Sprinkle with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds. Serve immediately with your choice of sides.

  • Baking Sheet or Oven-Safe Pan
  • Mixing Bowl

Notes

  • Do not overcook the salmon to keep it moist and tender.

  • The glaze can be prepared a day ahead and stored in the refrigerator.
