Ingredients

  • 8 oz fresh strawberries hulled and sliced
  • 6 cups water divided
  • 4 tea bags black tea or your favorite tea blend
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 lemon juiced (about 2 tablespoons)

Instructions

  • Start by washing and hulling the strawberries. Slice them into smaller pieces to make blending easier. Place the sliced strawberries in a blender or food processor and add 1 cup of water. Blend until smooth to create a fresh strawberry puree. Set this aside.
  • Bring 5 cups of water to a boil in a saucepan or kettle. Once boiling, remove from heat and add the 4 tea bags. Let the tea steep for about 5 minutes, or until it reaches your desired strength. Remove the tea bags and discard.
  • While the tea is still warm, stir in the ¾ cup of granulated sugar until fully dissolved. This ensures that the sugar blends well without grittiness.
  • Pour the strawberry puree through a fine mesh sieve into the sweetened tea to remove seeds and pulp, or leave it as is if you prefer a thicker texture. Stir well to combine.
  • Squeeze the juice of one lemon into the tea mixture and stir. The lemon adds a bright, citrusy note that perfectly complements the sweetness of the strawberries.
  • Transfer the iced strawberry tea to a pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to chill completely. Serve over ice cubes with fresh strawberry slices or lemon wedges for garnish. Enjoy!

Notes

Use ripe, in-season strawberries for the best flavor. Reduce sugar or substitute with honey or agave syrup for less sweetness. Add fresh mint leaves for extra refreshment. Frozen strawberries can be used if thawed. Variations include green tea, herbal teas, sparkling water, sugar-free sweeteners, mixed berries, or adding alcohol for a cocktail. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and stir before serving.
