Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup white whole wheat flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 large eggs beaten
  • 2 ounces unsalted butter melted
  • 2 cups buttermilk at room temperature

Instructions

  • Preheat your waffle maker according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, white whole wheat flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and sugar until well combined.
  • In another bowl, beat the eggs and then add the melted butter and buttermilk. Mix until everything is well blended.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl of dry ingredients. Gently fold the mixture until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  • Lightly grease the waffle maker with cooking spray or a brush of oil. Pour the batter into the center, close the lid, and cook for about 4-5 minutes or according to your waffle maker’s instructions.
  • Carefully remove the waffles and place them on a cooling rack to cool completely.
  • Stack the cooled waffles with parchment paper between each, place in an airtight container or freezer-safe bag, label, and freeze for up to 3 months.
