Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh salmon fillet
  • 2 teaspoons avocado oil
  • Sea salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 tablespoons salted butter
  • 2 tablespoons honey

Instructions

Hot Honey Salmon

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure even cooking and perfect flakiness.
  • Pat the salmon fillet dry with paper towels. Place it in your oven-safe skillet.
  • Drizzle avocado oil over the salmon and sprinkle with sea salt, garlic powder, and paprika, coating the entire surface.
  • Heat the skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the salmon skin-side down for 4-5 minutes until the skin is crispy and golden brown.
  • In a small saucepan, melt salted butter over low heat. Add honey and stir until combined. Optionally, add a pinch of red pepper flakes for extra heat.
  • Pour the hot honey sauce over the seared salmon. Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for 8-10 minutes until the salmon flakes easily with a fork.
  • Remove from oven and let the salmon rest for a couple of minutes. Drizzle any remaining sauce over the top before serving.

Equipment

  • Oven-safe Skillet
  • Spatula
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Small Saucepan

Notes

  • Use a well-heated skillet and enough oil to prevent the salmon skin from sticking while searing.
  • Adjust spice level by adding or reducing paprika and red pepper flakes in the hot honey sauce.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; reheat gently in the oven.
