Ingredients

  • 1 ball homemade whole wheat pizza dough or your favorite store-bought dough
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 12 slices pepperoni (or halal turkey pepperoni)
  • 1 tablespoon hot honey
  • a pinch red pepper flakes
  • thinly sliced fresh basil optional
  • ½ cup crumbled goat cheese
  • thinly sliced red onion
  • 1 to 2 handfuls fresh arugula

Instructions

  • If you're using homemade whole wheat pizza dough, prepare it according to your favorite recipe and allow it to rise until doubled. If using store-bought dough, let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat.
  • Sprinkle a clean surface with flour and roll out the dough into your desired shape and thickness.
  • Transfer the dough to a pizza peel or baking sheet. Spread 1 cup of pizza sauce evenly over the base. Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese, then add 12 slices of pepperoni on top.
  • Add a pinch of red pepper flakes, crumbled goat cheese, thinly sliced red onion, and drizzle 1 tablespoon of hot honey over the pizza.
  • Bake the pizza for 12-15 minutes until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.
  • Remove from oven, let cool for a minute, then top with fresh basil and a handful of arugula. Slice and serve.

Notes

  • Use store-bought dough for quicker prep or homemade dough for a more authentic flavor.
  • Try swapping half the mozzarella for a lower-fat cheese to make it healthier.
  • Store leftovers wrapped tightly in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze slices for longer storage.
