Ingredients

  • 1 package Hawaiian Sweet Rolls 12-count, soft and sweet
  • ½ cup mayonnaise adds creaminess and moisture
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce adjust to taste for gentle heat
  • 1 pound deli roast beef 12 thin slices, tender and flavorful
  • 12 slices pepper jack cheese for melty, spicy kick
  • 4 tablespoons salted butter ½ stick, for brushing and flavor
  • 2 teaspoons lemon pepper adds bright, zesty seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard for tang and depth
  • 3 to 4 dashes Worcestershire sauce enhances umami

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine mayonnaise, hot sauce, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and lemon pepper. Stir until fully blended to create a creamy, tangy, and slightly spicy sauce.
  • Carefully slice the Hawaiian sweet rolls horizontally, keeping the bottom intact to form a connected base. Place the bottom half on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Generously spread half of the prepared sauce on the bottom half of the rolls for creamy, flavorful goodness in every bite.
  • Arrange the 12 thin slices of deli roast beef evenly over the sauce, then top each slice with a slice of pepper jack cheese.
  • Place the top half of the Hawaiian rolls over the layered roast beef and cheese. Melt salted butter and stir in remaining sauce mixture and a sprinkle of lemon pepper. Brush this mixture evenly over the top of the rolls.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake sandwiches on the baking sheet for about 15 minutes, until cheese melts and tops are golden. Optionally broil 1-2 minutes for extra toastiness, watching carefully.
  • Slice the sandwiches into individual servings and serve immediately. They pair well with green salad or sweet potato fries for a complete meal.
