Ingredients

  • 1 package puff pastry thawed, store-bought
  • 1/4 cup honey adds natural sweetness
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard for that sharp, tangy kick
  • 1/2 cup shredded chicken cooked, shredded rotisserie chicken ideal
  • 1/2 cup grated cheese cheddar or gouda, choose your favorite melting cheese
  • 1 egg beaten, for brushing the pastry and achieving a golden finish

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the honey and Dijon mustard until smooth and well combined. Add the shredded chicken and grated cheese, tossing gently to coat everything in the honey mustard mixture. Set aside.
  • Lightly dust your work surface with flour and roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet into a roughly 12x12 inch square.
  • Spread the honey mustard chicken and cheese mixture evenly over half of the puff pastry square. Fold the other half of the pastry over the filling, gently pressing down to seal.
  • Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the folded pastry into 1-inch-wide strips. Twist each strip several times to create a spiral shape. Place each twist on a parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing about an inch apart.
  • Brush each twist generously with the beaten egg to ensure a shiny, golden crust. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 15-18 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
  • Remove the twists from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack. Serve warm or at room temperature.
