Ingredients

  • 8 oz halloumi block sliced into ½ inch slices
  • Olive oil spray (or a light drizzle of olive oil)

Instructions

  • Start by removing the halloumi block from its packaging and pat the slices dry with a paper towel to help the cheese develop a nice crust and prevent sticking.
  • Heat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. If using an outdoor grill, lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking.
  • Spray both sides of the halloumi slices lightly with olive oil spray or brush with a small amount of olive oil for browning and richness.
  • Place the halloumi slices on the grill and grill for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown with grill marks. Avoid overcooking to prevent rubbery texture.
  • Serve the grilled halloumi immediately while warm and soft, optionally with lemon wedges, fresh herbs, or a drizzle of balsamic glaze.

Equipment

  • Grill or Grill Pan
  • Paper Towel

Notes

Slice the halloumi evenly for consistent grilling, do not overcrowd the grill, and flip the slices only once for best texture. Leftovers keep up to 3 days refrigerated; reheat in a skillet for crispiness, avoid microwaving.
Variations include herb-infused, spicy paprika, citrus zest, or serving in salads and sandwiches.
