Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1 pinch chili flakes
  • 2 cloves garlic grated
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups marinara sauce for dipping
  • 12 slices provolone cheese
  • 12-16 square egg roll wrappers
  • 1/2 cup thinly sliced pepperoni
  • 8 tablespoons salted butter for garlic butter
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh sage

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Filling

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the grated parmesan cheese, dried basil, dried oregano, dried parsley, chili flakes, grated garlic, shredded mozzarella cheese, and sliced pepperoni. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly distributed.

Step 2: Assemble the Egg Rolls

  • Lay an egg roll wrapper on a clean surface with one corner facing you. Place about 2 tablespoons of the filling mixture in the center. Fold the corner over the filling, then fold in the sides and roll tightly. Use a little water to seal the edges. Repeat until all the filling is used.

Step 3: Prepare the Garlic Butter

  • In a small saucepan, melt the salted butter over low heat. Once melted, add the chopped fresh sage and stir until fragrant. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 4: Fry the Egg Rolls

  • Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, gently place a few egg rolls in the pan, being careful not to overcrowd it. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes on each side. Use a spatula to flip them carefully.

Step 5: Brush with Garlic Butter

  • Once the egg rolls are cooked, place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. While they are still hot, brush generously with the garlic butter mixture.

Step 6: Serve with Marinara Sauce

  • Arrange the Garlic Butter Pizza Egg Rolls on a serving platter and serve with warm marinara sauce on the side for dipping. Enjoy your delicious creation!

Equipment

  • Frying pan
  • Spatula
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Pastry brush
  • Measuring Cups and Spoons

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat in a 375°F oven for 10-15 minutes to restore crispiness.
  • You can freeze uncooked egg rolls on a baking sheet, then transfer to a freezer bag and fry directly from frozen, adding a few extra minutes to cooking time.
  • To bake instead of frying, preheat oven to 400°F and bake egg rolls for 15-20 minutes, turning halfway through for even browning.
