Ingredients

  • 2 eggs slightly beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups milk to create a rich batter
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar adds sweetness and depth
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour the foundation of your batter
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder for that perfect rise
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt enhances the flavors
  • Vegetable oil for frying until golden and crispy
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar for dusting and finishing touch

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the slightly beaten eggs, milk, and packed brown sugar. Whisk together until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are perfectly fine!
  • In a deep fryer or a heavy-bottomed pot, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Test the oil by dropping a small spoonful of batter into it; it should sizzle and rise to the surface.
  • Using a piping bag or a squeeze bottle, carefully squeeze the batter into the hot oil in a zigzag pattern, creating long, wavy shapes. Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  • Use a slotted spoon to remove the fries from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil. While still warm, dust lightly with powdered sugar.
  • Serve your Funnel Cake Fries warm. Optionally add toppings like chocolate sauce, whipped cream, or fresh fruit. Enjoy your homemade fair food!
