Ingredients

  • 29.25 oz bags Fritos corn chips
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup peanut butter creamy
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips

Instructions

Frito Bars — Do This Next

  • Start by greasing your 9x13-inch baking pan with a bit of cooking spray or butter to prevent sticking.
  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the sugar, light corn syrup, and peanut butter. Stir continuously until smooth and bubbling, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Mix well to combine.
  • In a large mixing bowl, add the Fritos. Pour the warm peanut butter mixture over the Fritos and gently fold until coated.
  • Sprinkle the mini chocolate chips over the mixture and fold them in gently to slightly melt.
  • Transfer the mixture into your prepared baking pan. Use a spatula to press it down evenly and tightly.
  • Allow the bars to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes or refrigerate to speed cooling.

Equipment

  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Medium Saucepan
  • Wooden Spoon
  • 9x13 inch baking pan
  • Spatula

Notes

  • Use crunchy peanut butter to add more texture to the bars.
  • Substitute dark chocolate chips for a richer chocolate flavor.
  • Try sunflower seed butter for a nut-free alternative.
  • Store bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
  • Microwave briefly to soften if bars become too firm.
