Ingredients

  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips Use a good-quality dark chocolate for the best flavor and smooth texture.
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream This creates the luscious ganache base.
  • 1/4 cup fig jam Adds natural sweetness and a fruity note that pairs beautifully with chocolate.
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder For dusting and an extra chocolate punch.
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract Enhances the overall flavor with a warm, aromatic touch.

Instructions

  • Line an 8x8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang on the sides to easily lift the truffle squares once set.
  • In a small saucepan, gently heat the heavy cream over medium-low heat. Remove from heat just before it starts to boil.
  • Place dark chocolate chips in a heatproof bowl. Pour hot cream over chocolate and let sit 2-3 minutes to soften, then stir until smooth and glossy.
  • Stir in fig jam and vanilla extract until fully incorporated, balancing the richness of the chocolate with fruity sweetness.
  • Pour the chocolate-fig mixture into the prepared pan, spreading evenly and smoothing the top.
  • Refrigerate the pan for at least 3 hours until the truffle squares are firm and set.
  • Lift the truffle block from the pan using the parchment overhang. Cut into 1-inch squares and dust lightly with unsweetened cocoa powder.

Equipment

  • 8x8-inch baking pan
  • Parchment Paper
  • Small Saucepan
  • Heatproof Bowl
  • Spatula
  • Cutting Board
  • Knife

Notes

  • Use high-quality dark chocolate chips or chopped bars for a richer, smoother ganache.
  • Do not overheat the cream; it should be hot but not boiling to avoid seizing the chocolate.
  • For cleaner cuts, warm and dry your knife before slicing the truffles.
  • Chill the squares thoroughly to ensure they hold their shape and develop a melt-in-your-mouth texture.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week or freeze for longer storage.
