Ingredients

  • 1 pie crust pie crust homemade or pre-made
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream or heavy whipping cream
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon paprika
  • teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ¼ cup green onions diced
  • 1 cup cooked ham diced, halal-certified or appropriate alternative
  • 1 ¼ cups grated cheddar cheese

Instructions

  • If you’re using a pre-made pie crust, remove it from the packaging and place it into a 9-inch pie dish. If making your own, roll it out on a floured surface and gently press it into the pie dish. Trim any excess dough and poke holes in the bottom with a fork to prevent bubbling.
  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line the pie crust with parchment paper and fill with pie weights or dried beans. Bake for about 10 minutes. Remove weights and parchment, then bake for an additional 5 minutes until crust starts turning golden.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together 4 large eggs and 1 cup heavy cream until well combined. Add garlic powder, salt, paprika, and ground black pepper. Whisk again to blend all spices evenly into the custard base.
  • Sprinkle diced ham evenly over the bottom of the pre-baked pie crust. Add diced green onions, then grated cheddar cheese. Pour the egg and cream mixture over the top, spreading evenly.
  • Place the quiche in the preheated oven and bake for 30 to 35 minutes. It is done when the center is set and a knife inserted near the middle comes out clean. The top should be lightly golden.
  • Allow the quiche to cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature with a side salad or fresh fruit.

Equipment

  • 9-inch Pie Dish
  • Oven
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Parchment Paper
  • Pie weights or dried beans

Notes

Use room temperature eggs and cream for smooth custard. Don’t skip blind baking to keep crust crisp. Customize cheese types and add fresh herbs like parsley or chives for extra flavor. The quiche can be made ahead, served warm or at room temperature, and leftovers store well refrigerated or frozen.
