  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt or to taste
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan, whisk together the cocoa powder, granulated sugar, and kosher salt to eliminate lumps.
  • Slowly pour in the cold water while whisking continuously until the mixture is smooth and all dry ingredients are dissolved.
  • Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir continuously until the mixture begins to gently boil, helping it thicken.
  • Reduce heat to low and let the syrup simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the pure vanilla extract to enhance the flavor.
  • Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature, then transfer to a clean storage container for use.

Notes

  • Store syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
