Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground turkey (thigh or breast) use thigh or breast meat as desired
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley finely chopped
  • 1 large garlic clove, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs Italian-flavored
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste
  • burger toppings hamburger buns, butter lettuce, tomato, red onion, mayo, avocado, etc.

Instructions

  • Preheat and oil the grill to high heat, then reduce to medium-high when ready to cook.
  • Chop the chives and parsley and prepare desired toppings such as sliced tomato, red onion, lettuce, avocado, and buns.
  • In a medium-large mixing bowl combine ground turkey, chopped chives, chopped parsley, minced garlic, lemon juice, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, and salt and pepper.
  • Gently mix with your hands until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat so the patties remain tender.
  • Form the mixture into patties—this recipe makes about six small/medium patties or four larger ones—and place them on wax paper or a plate. Press a slight depression with your thumb into the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.
  • Turn the grill to medium-high and cook the patties until the internal temperature reaches at least 165°F, about 4–6 minutes per side depending on thickness.
  • Optional: butter the buns and toast them on the grill for 20–30 seconds per side.
  • Assemble the burgers with your chosen toppings and enjoy.
