Ingredients

  • 1 pound salmon fillets fresh or thawed, skin-on or skinless
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil a light, healthy fat to help the seasoning adhere and promote a golden crust
  • 1 tablespoon blackened seasoning a flavorful blend of spices that will give the salmon its signature crust

Instructions

  • Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Leave skin on if applicable for added flavor and moisture.
  • Drizzle olive oil over the salmon fillets, coating them well. Sprinkle blackened seasoning evenly on both sides.
  • Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat until hot but not smoking.
  • Place the seasoned salmon fillets in the skillet, skin-side down if applicable. Cook for 4-5 minutes until edges turn golden.
  • Flip the salmon gently using a spatula. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until salmon flakes easily or reaches 145°F internal temperature.
  • Transfer salmon to a plate and let rest for a few minutes to redistribute juices. Serve with your favorite sides.

Equipment

  • Non-stick Skillet
  • Spatula
  • Meat Thermometer
  • Plate

Notes

  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure salmon reaches 145°F for safe consumption.
  • Make your own blackened seasoning by blending paprika, cayenne, garlic powder, onion powder, and dried oregano.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat gently to avoid drying out.
