Ingredients

  • 14 ounces extra-firm tofu
  • 2 tablespoons avocado oil
  • 2 tablespoons tamari gluten-free soy sauce alternative
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch for crispy exterior

Instructions

Prepare the Tofu

  • Drain the tofu by wrapping it in a clean kitchen towel or paper towels and placing a weight on top for about 15-20 minutes to remove excess moisture.
  • Cut the drained tofu into bite-sized cubes or rectangles, ensuring uniform pieces for even cooking.

Make the Marinade and Coat the Tofu

  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together avocado oil, tamari, and sriracha to create the marinade.
  • Add the tofu cubes to the marinade and gently toss until well-coated. Sprinkle cornstarch over the tofu and toss again evenly.

Cook the Tofu

  • Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
  • Place the coated tofu in the air fryer basket in a single layer without overcrowding; cook in batches if needed.
  • Air fry for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking, until golden and crispy.

Serve

  • Remove tofu from the air fryer and let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy on its own, in salads, or wraps!

Equipment

  • Air Fryer
  • Cutting Board
  • Sharp Knife
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Spatula or tongs

Notes

  • Press tofu well to remove moisture for maximum crispiness.
  • Marinate tofu overnight for deeper flavor.
  • Freeze leftovers in airtight containers for up to 3 months; reheat in air fryer to restore crispiness.
  • Use tamari for gluten-free option; regular soy sauce can be substituted.
  • Experiment with seasonal toppings like fresh herbs, mango salsa, or miso glaze for variety.
