Ingredients

  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste
  • fresh parsley chopped for garnish

Instructions

Creamy Garlic Parmesan Orzo

  • Heat the olive oil in your saucepan over medium heat. Once shimmering, add the minced garlic. Stir constantly for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant and lightly golden — be careful not to burn it.
  • Add the orzo to the garlic oil, stirring frequently. Toast it for about 2-3 minutes to enhance the nutty flavor and prevent mushiness.
  • Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a gentle boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally, until orzo is tender and most liquid is absorbed — about 8-10 minutes.
  • Lower heat to the very lowest setting. Slowly stir in the heavy cream, then add grated Parmesan cheese. Continue stirring until cheese melts and sauce thickens to creamy consistency.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and black pepper. Remove from heat. Sprinkle freshly chopped parsley on top for freshness and color.

Equipment

  • Medium-sized saucepan
  • Wooden spoon or silicone spatula
  • Measuring Cups and Spoons
  • Fine Grater
  • Knife and cutting board

Notes

  • Toast the orzo before cooking to enhance flavor and texture.
  • Use freshly grated Parmesan for best melting and flavor results.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days; reheat gently with added broth or cream.
