Ingredients

  • 4 6 oz salmon fillets fresh, skin-on or skinless
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 0.25 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter divided into 4 equal pieces

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). This temperature is perfect for cooking salmon quickly while keeping it tender and juicy.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the minced garlic, chopped dill, salt, black pepper, lemon juice, and olive oil. Whisk the mixture until well combined, creating a fragrant marinade.
  • Line your baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup. Lay the salmon fillets skin-side down on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they are evenly spaced.
  • Using a cooking brush, generously apply the marinade over each salmon fillet. Make sure to coat them well, allowing the flavors to penetrate the fish.
  • Place one piece of butter on each salmon fillet. This will melt during baking, adding an extra layer of flavor and richness.
  • Transfer the baking sheet to the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. The internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C).
  • Once done, remove the salmon from the oven and let it rest for a couple of minutes. Serve the fillets with your favorite sides and enjoy the delightful flavors of your Baked Salmon with Dill and Garlic!

Equipment

  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment paper or aluminum foil
  • Sharp Knife
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Cooking brush

Notes

  • Do not overcook the salmon; it continues cooking slightly after removal from the oven.
  • Remove any pin bones from the salmon fillets before cooking for a better eating experience.
  • Adjust the amount of fresh dill to your taste, as it can be quite potent.
  • Let the salmon rest a few minutes after baking to allow juices to redistribute.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
