Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breast diced
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger grated
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce low sodium
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup green onions sliced
  • 1/4 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/4 cup chopped bell peppers
  • lettuce leaves for wrapping (butter lettuce or iceberg)
  • sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Sauce

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, and cornstarch until smooth.

Sauté Aromatics

  • Heat the sesame oil in your skillet over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, stirring for about 30 seconds to release their fragrant oils—don’t let them burn!

Cook the Chicken

  • Add the diced chicken breast to the skillet. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently, until the chicken is browned and cooked through.

Add the Sauce

  • Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet, tossing everything to coat the chicken evenly. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and clings to the chicken pieces.

Stir in Veggies

  • Add the shredded carrots, chopped bell peppers, and sliced green onions. Stir for a minute just to warm the veggies while keeping their crunch.

Assemble the Wraps

  • Spoon a generous amount of the chicken mixture into a lettuce leaf. Sprinkle with sesame seeds for that irresistible nutty crunch. Fold the lettuce around the filling and enjoy!

Equipment

  • Large Skillet or Wok
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Sharp Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Measuring Spoons and Cups
  • Spatula or Wooden Spoon
  • Serving platter or individual plates

Notes

  • Use ground chicken breast for quicker cooking and easier wrapping.
  • Swap honey with maple syrup or agave nectar for a vegan-friendly sweetener.
  • Store leftover chicken mixture separately from lettuce leaves to keep wraps fresh.
  • Try sturdier lettuce varieties like iceberg or Romaine if butter lettuce tears easily.
  • Add a spicy kick with chili garlic sauce or red pepper flakes.
