Ingredients

  • 1-2 thick cut beef steaks 1 to 1½ inches thick – choose from Ribeye, T-bone, NY strip, or Sirloin steak
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Pat your steaks dry with paper towels to remove any excess moisture. Rub each steak on both sides with olive oil, ensuring an even coating. Generously season both sides with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (204°C) for about 5 minutes to ensure it begins cooking immediately and helps develop a savory crust.
  • Place the steaks in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Avoid overcrowding to allow proper air circulation. Cook for 9-12 minutes, flipping halfway through. For medium-rare, cook about 9 minutes total; for medium, cook closer to 12 minutes.
  • Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature: 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare, 140°F (60°C) for medium, and 150°F (65°C) for medium-well. Remember the steak will continue to cook slightly after removal from the air fryer.
  • Transfer the steak to a plate and tent loosely with foil. Let it rest for 5-10 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute. Slice against the grain and serve immediately with your favorite sides.

Equipment

  • Air Fryer
  • Meat Thermometer
  • Paper Towels

Notes

Choose steaks at least 1 to 1½ inches thick for best results. Patting the steak dry before seasoning helps form a better crust. Use a reliable meat thermometer for precise doneness. Let steak come to room temperature before cooking. For variations, try garlic herb butter, spice rubs, or marinades. Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat gently to preserve juiciness.
