Ingredients

  • 1 pound frozen chicken wings flats and drumettes, skin-on
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or your preferred cooking oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika or regular paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • your favorite wing sauce optional: buffalo, barbecue, teriyaki, or honey garlic

Instructions

  • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes to ensure the wings start cooking immediately and achieve crispy skin.
  • In a large bowl, toss the frozen chicken wings with olive oil to help the seasonings stick and promote crisping.
  • Sprinkle garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper over the wings. Toss again to coat evenly. Seasoning may not stick perfectly since the wings are frozen, but flavor will develop during cooking.
  • Place the wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Avoid overcrowding to allow proper hot air circulation. Cook in batches if necessary.
  • Cook the wings at 400°F (200°C) for 25-30 minutes. Shake the basket or flip the wings every 8-10 minutes for even cooking and crispiness. Wings are done when internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and skin is golden brown and crispy.
  • If using a wing sauce, transfer the cooked wings to a large bowl and toss them with your sauce of choice. Serve immediately for best flavor and texture.

Equipment

  • Air Fryer
  • Large Bowl

Notes

Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to ensure maximum crispiness. Flip or shake wings regularly to avoid sticking and promote even cooking. Use a meat thermometer to check doneness. Pat wings dry if partially thawed before seasoning. Customize seasoning with cayenne pepper or cumin for extra flavor. Let wings rest a few minutes after cooking to lock in juices.
